8 Steps to Grow Your Hair Out Quickly

I posted a little over a week ago about hair masks and I got dozens of messages, texts, questions about the hair masks I use, how to use them, when to use them.

Two years ago, during a bit of a mentally trying time, I did what all girls do when they are trying to free themselves of their past; I chopped my hair off. Right up to my shoulders. I liked it for a little while. But I was always the girl with beautiful dark brown (its not black) hair, it was my identity. And suddenly the compliments stopped. I  was stripped of my title and I hated it.

So I began my obsession with trying to grow it back as fast as possible. Now before I get into all the things that I do, I would like to say you have to be realistic. If your hair is incredible thin and brittle, this is not a miracle fix.

  1. 1. HAIR MASK

I use Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair! I started doing this about a year ago to keep my hair healthy and strong when it feels dry. For so long, I had always just cut may hair off when it was starting to feel brittle, but this has helped me restore hydration and moisture so I can let it grow long and healthy.

I got so many questions on how to use a hair mask. At night, I wash my hair normally with shampoo, but don’t put it any other conditioner. Towel dry and massage the conditioner into my hair. I use it mostly on my ends because they need the most work. You don’t need to drench your hair in the hair mask. Use as much as you would conditioner. I put it up in a bun, wake up the next morning and rinse it all out. No need to shampoo again. Repeat twice a week.

  2. STOP WASHING YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY

This one was hard for me. My hair gets very oily, very quickly. I started to do every other day and the second day was mandatory pony tail day. But the less I washed it, the less oily it became. Now I can wash in every 3 days and it will only start getting greasy on the third day.

  3. DEEP CONDITIONING

Even if I’m not hair masking, I leave regular conditioner in my hair for 5 minutes or so every single time I wash it.

  4. LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF HEAT ON YOUR HAIR

I make sure that every single time I washed my hair, I blow it out. And that way the blow out lasts a couple of days and I don’t constantly feel the need to wash it.

  5. DRY SHAMPOO

It’s your best friend. I use Bumble & Bumble Pret a Powder. It’s incredible, by far the best dry shampoo I have ever used. It’s pricey, but its worth it.

  6. USE HEAT PROTECTANT SPRAY

For the times that I do blow out or curl my hair, I make sure I’m using a heat protectant spray. I use Bumble & Bumble every single time I put any heat on my hair.

  7. MULTI-MASKING

But sometimes if I feel my ends are really dry and my roots are really greasy, I only shampoo my roots and I only condition my ends. Seems weird I know, but I don’t want to strip any more oils out of the ends of my hair.

  8. FREQUENT TRIMS

If you saw how I do this, you would cringe. So I won’t recommend doing this yourself, but I cut my ends weekly (I’m not exaggerating) I’ve been doing this since middle school. My sister, Michelle, gets about 5-6 professional trims a year. (I’m the cheap one) I would recommend Michelle’s way.

And thats it! All my tips & tricks.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
